Position Title: Backcountry Wilderness Area Fund Coordinator

Location: Littleton, CO

Organization Overview: “Enhancing property values and creating quality of life through recreation, community events and leadership…” The Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) is a nationally award-winning nonprofit organization for 30,551 home owners in Highlands Ranch. The HRCA maintains four state-of-the-art recreation centers, provides architectural control and covenant enforcement, programs, fitness, sports and educational opportunities, manages the Backcountry Wilderness Area, and hosts over 100 community events annually.

Duties: 

  • Plan, organize, and execute Backcountry Wilderness Area Fund events from ideas through day-of coordination.
  • Implement and administer programs, events, and promotions for the 501c3 including but not limited to youth programs, family programs, discovery trail open hours, movie nights, etc.
  • Market programs, events, 501c3 goals through social media, e-news, blogs, and graphics
  • Plan, create, and distribute social media (primarily Facebook and Instagram) with a focus on video content.
  • Assist in the maintenance of social media sites on a day to day basis.
  • Assist in all aspects of the Backcountry 501c3 including all administrative duties associated with the 501c3, including but not limited to planning, marketing, event development, management, and implementation, fundraising, both individual and corporate sponsorships, memberships, and budget management
  • Engage the community and promote the Backcountry and its programs, events, and 501c3 through social media, written articles for website, newsletter, blog, activity guide, and various other forms of media.
  • Distribute flyers and posters regularly to specific locations
  • Other duties include long and short-term planning, assisting with other programs, administrative duties, inventory of goods, and other duties as assigned.
  • Work within a team environment with other Backcountry Coordinators, Supervisors, Managers, and the Backcountry Director to accomplish program goals.
  • Assist with other programs including marketing, set up, clean up, implementation, leading groups, teaching, and more.
  • Perform related duties as assigned and required
  • The regular schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday. There will be required night and weekend hours.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in the area of marketing, event planning, public relations, non-profit management, media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing, media/journalism, outreach/public relations, nonprofit.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in written media
  • Knowledge and skills for the latest social media trends and processes
  • Strong skills in social media graphic designs and photography
  • A passion for the outdoors and bringing people into the outdoors
  • Experience and/or knowledge in managing and organizing large events
  • Ability to multi-task, be highly organized, follow up and follow through with assigned tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Position requires ability to work outdoors. Must be physically able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds and on occasion more.
  • Ability to talk in front of large groups of people
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to keep and organize records
  • Ability to work and accomplish tasks independently and without supervision
  • Ability to work with customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to use good judgment in all situations
  • Ability to be trained in CPR/First-Aid and/or Wilderness First Aid
  • Ability to respond to and perform effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as management plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, manufacturer labels, and procedure manuals
  • Efficient and competent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Canva, Mail Chimp, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and web-site content management, etc.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Must pass a Drug and Background check

Work is performed indoors and outdoors on a regular basis. Must be able to work in an office environment where noise and interruptions prevail. Must also be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including adverse weather such as rain, extreme heat, snow, wind, and more. Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least three miles at a time and stand for long periods, walk, sit for long periods, crouch, bend, kneel, stoop, reach and lift, push or pull and carry or lift heavy objects up to 60 pounds unassisted. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Manual dexterity is needed to type, write, use a calculator, and answer the phone. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is needed.

Salary/Pay: $24 – $29 Hourly
