Job Title: Activities Coordinator Internship
Organization: VeeBar Guest Ranch
Organization Overview: The Vee Bar Guest Ranch is located 20 miles west of Laramie, Wyoming. The ranch operates as a summer vacation destination for people from all over the US and Europe. During their visit, guests spend a minimum of three nights (most spend 6 nights) and purchase an all-inclusive package. The package includes lodging in one of nine guest cabins, three meals per day, and ranch activities that range from horseback riding to river tubing and much more. The Vee Bar crew is a combination of seasonal employees and full-time employees, since the ranch is open year-round. During the summer months, the Vee Bar employees about 25 people.
Qualifications and Responsibilities: The person in this position will have a great deal of responsibility. Applications must be 21 years old with a clean driving record because driving ranch vehicles will be a requirement. (Insurance will not cover drivers younger than 21 years). This intern will be responsible for organizing a wide variety of activities on and off the ranch, except horse-related activities. Some duties will include guiding hikes on the ranch and in the Snowies, organizing and facilitating evening activities such as campfires, movie nights, and kids’ programs. Other activities (for those who have previous experience) could include archery, fishing, trap-shooting, line or swing dancing, and more. This intern should have an outgoing personality, be organized, use professional judgement, and work well with all ages of people. Much of the guests’ schedule will be in place by the time an intern is found, but the plan would be to use the intern’s strengths and experiences to further enhance the guests’ experience. The workload fluctuates from week to week and day to day (for instance if there is a group who ONLY rides horses, they do not hike) and when this is the case, other duties may include helping with various maintenance projects, routine cleaning of the vans, organizing photos of the guests each week (which are later shared with the guests), and more.
