Position Title: UW Food Share Pantry Coordinator
Organization: UW Food Security Taskforce
Overview: The UW Food Share Pantry was created through the combined efforts of the UW Food Security Task Force, ASUW, Laramie Interfaith, the Dean of Students Office, and the Sustainability Coalition. The mission of the University of Wyoming Food Share Pantry is to alleviate food hardship and increase access to nutritious, delicious foods within our campus community. We strive to work with campus and community partners to find new ways to achieve this goal. The UW Food Share Pantry is located in Knight Hall RM 106, and is operated within the Dean of Students Office. For the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 year, the UW Food Share Pantry, UW Food Security Taskforce and the Dean of Students office are seeking to hire a coordinator to run and manage the operations of the program.
Duties:
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic throughout the entire course of the position
- Manage pantry operations during the open hours
- Stock shelves
- Weigh/organize donations
- Organize shelves
- Create ordering lists
- Track food share pantry statistics
- Interact with and assist pantry clients
- Receive food donations and inventory pantry supplies and food
- Assist pantry clients with SNAP applications
- Prepare and distribute additional resources to pantry clients
- Prepare monthly reports of pantry statistics
- Support creation of marketing materials such as flyers, newsletter updates, and social media
- Coordinate food drives/fundraisers with student organizations and departments
- Maintain communication with community organizations and strategic campus partners

- Implement projects for the continued evolution and improvement of the pantry
- Participate in weekly supervision meetings dedicated to professional growth and pantry projects
- Schedule and train pantry volunteers
- Participate in regular Food Task Force and sub-committee meetings
- Other duties as appropriate
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to commit to working the entire length of the position
- Must be a current UW student or recent UW graduate
- At least 3.0 GPA
- Availability: 20 hours per week. Schedule is dependent on UW Food Share Pantry hours.
Qualifications:
- UW Food Pantry Employees must have strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Employees should be aware of the sensitive, confidential nature of working with pantry clients and be comfortable in a service setting
- Verbal communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required
- Familiarity with food service/food safety, nutrition, and social justice issues
- Ability to work in a community with a team of workers and volunteers, as well as the ability to work independently
Prerequisites:
- Employees should have a strong interest in social issues, a professional work ethic, and a commitment to make the campus more sustainable and equitable.
- Staff must be committed to the mission of the UW Food Share Pantry. In addition, employees must be self- motivated as they will take the lead on their own projects.
Salary/pay: $15/hr
Time Frame: The position will run from August 15, until August 15, 2022. Dates are somewhat flexible. Opportunity available to advance and continue after proposed end date. Schedule is approximately 20 hours a week.
