Position Title: Wyoming Community Partnerships Coordinator

Organization: Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership

Location: Remote in Wyoming

Position Summary: The Wyoming Community Partnerships Coordinator will implement public education and advocacy campaigns in the Cowboy State to unite and amplify hunter, angler, and other voices to advance TRCP’s policy priorities, and to increase the collective influence of the sporting community by demonstrating how conservation fits into a prosperous future for Wyoming. Ideal candidates will have experience advocating for and organizing around policy issues, working collaboratively with hunters and anglers, elected and appointed officials, and implementing public relations strategies. This is a new position within the TRCP and provides the opportunity to expand our impact in Wyoming. This is a remote, work from home position and travel is required in Wyoming and occasionally out-of-state. Organization Overview: The TRCP works to guarantee all Americans access to quality places to hunt and fish. Founded in 2002, the TRCP is the largest coalition of conservation organizations in the country, uniting and amplifying the voices of sportsmen and women by convening hunting and fishing groups, conservation organizations, and outdoor businesses to a common purpose. The organization now includes 60 formal partner groups and more than 116,000 individuals, including 3,000 in Wyoming. The TRCP has earned a strong reputation across the nation and in the West for advancing broad-based conservation efforts, conserving wildlife and fish habitat, and ensuring public access for sportsmen and women. 

Duties: 

• Recruit, empower, and engage Wyoming hunters and anglers and the public to build power and influence state and federal policies to conserve public lands and wildlife habitat, and support recreation opportunities;
• Coordinate with hunters and angler, conservation, business, and recreation groups to build a unified voice for public lands and wildlife conservation;
• Build and deliver strong coalition policy recommendations to decision makers from the hunting, angling, conservation, outdoor recreation, and business communities;
• Work with elected officials in and around place-based campaigns to match community needs and prosperity with conservation objectives, including leveraging funding sources that support rural economic wellbeing and sustainable local communities;
• Use traditional and digital media to shape the public narrative, drive hunter and angler engagement, and provide political support for decision makers to take action;
• Help grow membership in Wyoming to build advocacy power;
• Provide support in the financial development of the program.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience successfully advocating for policy change;
• Experience with citizen recruitment and engagement with traditional and social media tools;
• Knowledge of and a passion for Wyoming and hunting and fishing;
• Ability to navigate the varied and diverse interests that influence conservation efforts in Wyoming;
• An understanding of the perspectives of federal and/or state agencies;
• Ability to work with the TRCP team, including program, communications, government relations, and development staff, and in coalitions with partners and allies, including unconventional allies;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience writing grant applications, blog posts, and media releases;
• Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail;
• Ability to work virtually and independently;
• Humor, humility and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
• Strong initiative, enthusiasm, and willingness to pitch in whenever needed.

Salary/pay: $46,000-$50,000
