Organization Overview: Sierra Club Wyoming has been a leader in the state since 1975 working to protect the environment, and today represents 3,500 Sierra Club members and supporters across the state. Their small Wyoming-based staff of four (growing to five with this new position) works cooperatively and in a fully integrated manner with their volunteer activists and grassroots supporters across the state, with a diverse array of partners, and with other regional and national Sierra Club staff. Their top conservation priorities are to slow climate change and minimize its most harmful impacts by ending fossil fuel production on public land; protect remaining undeveloped wild landscapes; protect healthy and free-ranging wildlife; and maintain high-quality, connected wildlife habitats. All aspects of this position will be grounded in principles of equity, justice, and inclusion.

Position Overview: As Wyoming Chapter Organizer, this position will help lead and execute assigned components of Sierra Club Wyoming’s land, wildlife, and energy campaign work, with primary focus on projects in northern and western Wyoming. The Organizer will work with Sierra Club staff, volunteer leadership, and partner organizations to implement strategic coordinated campaigns; help educate and engage Sierra Club members, supporters, partners, and the general public on their priority issues; and support networks of engaged volunteer activists across the state. As Communications Coordinator, this position will work with staff and volunteer leaders to help ensure a clear, consistent, and effective chapter voice and message across electronic and print outreach pieces that advance Sierra Club Wyoming’s goals and priorities.

Duties:

  • Help design and implement priority conservation campaigns
  • Build and coordinate relationships with key partner organizations and individuals
  • Develop working relationships with decision makers
  • Effectively represent the Sierra Club to the public and in the media
  • Develop and implement media strategies
  • Coordinate Sierra Club Wyoming’s electronic and print communications
  • Help build the organization and their movement for change

Start/End Dates: Permanent position, starting when position is hired

Salary: $65,000
